Do you know this about GFP??

The transgenic pigs were created by adding DNA encoding for the green fluorescent protein from fluorescent jellyfish to pig embryos which were then implanted in the uteruses of female pigs. The pigs glow green in the dark, and have clearly green-tinged skin and eyes in daylight.

What is the use of GFP ?? & Why is it expressed here in pigs??

In molecular biology, the "GFP gene" is used as a reporter of expression.
In pigs, humans, bacteria, yeast, fungus, plant, fly GFP is used as a marker, as a proof that GFP gene can be expressed throughout a given organism.
It is very important technique and is used routinely in molecular biology lab.
Its daily uses also include fluorescence microscopy (FITC dye).

So ok, GFP can be expressed in Pigs...to make green pigs? What is it telling you. Can you please elaborate?

If I give you GFP, how would you use it in an innovative way?

Thanks
