I think one will agree that all the authors have different ways to really understand the nature and that makes them best in their own rights.
One's taste may differ but below is non-exhaustive list of best books in the field.
1. Molecular Biology - Robert Weaver
Best book if you want to study molecular biology with a curiosity to understand experiments which led to great discoveries in this ever expanding field of molecular biology.
2. Molecular Cell Biology - Lodish et al.
nice overall with strong figures and experimental techniques. Go for this book only after reading basic from wikipedia or other book. It might overwhelm a beginner.
3. Molecular Biology Of The Cell - Bruce Albert et al.
Gold standard in molecular biology. lucid, easy to comprehend & up to date book. With its simple diagrams without any complex jargon , one can easily fall for it. First book in biology which I read from chapter 1st to the last.
4. Molecular biology of the gene - James Watson et al.
Very much recommended. It has its own taste, develops comprehensive grip on the subject.
3. Becker's World of the Cell
This is also beautiful book with beautiful illustrations.
4. Molecular Biology - David Clark
Very easy to understand book. Its recommended for beginners.
5. The Encyclopedia Of Molecular Biology - By Creighton
thousands of pages of pure molecular biology. Explains nearly all of terms used in molecular biology with details and excellent references. go for it.
6. Cell and Molecular Biology - Gerald Karp
Nice book with extensions going in cell biology. builds overall picture of the subject.
7. Lewin's GENES
Explains molecular biology in detail. Tries to explain so much in so little. Its a good book If you are familiar with basic concepts and just want to delve deeper.
8. Essential Genes - Benjamin Lewin
Original parent book. always recommended.
9. Molecular Biology - Principles of Genome Function, Craig, Nancy et al.
Currently my favourite book.
