In the race to be the first in providing informations to others, we have lost the habit of verification. Earlier, due to absence of internet and smart phones the issue of misinformation is understandable. but, when the device is in our hands and we are still not verifying, we should admit that the problem runs very deep. Lately, I have realised that our attention span has got a serious hit with the advent of tech gadgets. I was recalling that earlier when I was in school I used to read full articles and editorials in the morning newspaper. I also enjoyed reading Scientific American magazine and books. But now, with the never-ending stream of social media it becomes tough to focus properly. We need to continuously develop strategies to keep the old habit going. Amidst all this I always double check the information running on social media from credible websites or scholarly articles before believing or even forwarding them. The allocation of rational mind is seriously required to differentiate fact from fiction.
